The crew from the Rainer Zebala Partners, a conservation company, works on restoring the mural "Whale of a Mural," 1983 by artist Daniel Alonzo on Tuesday October 4, 2005 on Ocean Park Blvd. and Fourth. They have been working on it for a week and should take about 5 more weeks to complete.

Skateboard Mama

81 year old Liz Bevington, aka "Skateboard Mama", catches some wind on her skateboard on Sunday, October 2, 2005 as she wind skates on Santa Monica beach. She is retired and spends most of her time at the beach, rollerblading, wind skating, skateboaeding and bike riding. " I cant just stay at home and be a coach potatoe" she said. 

Liz was born in Trier Germany in 1924 and moved to the U.S. in 1960. She had her son at the age 44, when he turned 6 years old, she bought him a skateboard and began skateboarding with him, she never stopped and the rest is history...

World Festival of Sacred Music

Two Hawaiian hula halaus (Hula Schools) came together to offer a traditional rituals and prayers in honor of Kanoloa, the Hawaiian Gods of Oceans, during the closing ceremonies  of the World Festival of Sacred Music-Los Angeles on Sunday October 2, 2005 on Santa Monica beach.

The Tongva, indigenous people of Los Angeles, conducted a ceremony ending for the World Festival of Sacred Music-Los Angeles on Sunday October 2, 2005 on Santa Monica beach. This concluded a traditional blessing and a series of ancestral songs that are commonly used during community ceremonies. The words of the songs encourages us all to respect and acknowledge the land we occupy, the community, and our ancestors. Offerings were paddled out  in the Moomat Ahiko (canoe).

The Fifth Annual Amgen California Coast Classic Bike Tour

After eight days on the road, over 200 cyclists  arrived in Santa Monica on Saturday October 1, 2005. Cyclist rode in  the fifth annual Amgen California Coast Classic Bike Tour to raise $1 million for the Arthritis Foundation. Bike ride began in San Francisco on Thursday September 22, and finished in Santa Monica Beach on Sunday October 1, 2005
