Mayor Bob's Incredible Chili

Santa Monica Mayor Robert Holbrook, with the help from  Julianne E. Steers, prepares his famous 'Mayor Bob's Incredible Chili' (one bite turns you into a superhero) during the annual 'Father Willy's Chili Cookoff'  at St. Monica's Octoberfair on Friday, September 29, 2006. This years grand winner of the chili cookoff went to Carol Earle.

(top) Richard Simonds, past national president for the Mercedes-Benz Club of America give a welcoming speech to the members at the end of the  Historic Route 66 Tour celebrating the  50th Anniversary of  MBCA on Friday, September 29, 2006 at the Santa Monica Pier . There were over 100 classic Mercedes that completed the tour,  20% did not finish the tour due to mechanical or medical reasons.The tour took 2 weeks and one day to complete.

The Thrustpac gets up to 150 miles per gallon on regular gas and can reach speeds of 25 to 35 miles per hour. It weighs 20 pounds and has a 35 cc engine. Burgess fills up the Thrustpac for only 38 cents. "Here's 50 Cents, keep the change, I am a big spender," he brags to the gas station attendant.
