Santa Monica Police Explorers, Alex Berry, 15,  and Alexsys Cornejo 15, do push-ups during  their weekly inspection  on Monday, November 6, 2006 in front of city hall. Santa Monica Police Explorer Captain Johnny Willis, 19, inspects  the troupes. Police Explorers must be between 14 and 19 years of age, be of good moral character, and have no serious arrest record.  Police Explorers must meet the same basic physical requirements as a Police Officer.  Police Explorers assist sworn police officers by performing non-hazardous duties such as assisting in crime reduction campaigns, evidence searches, disaster assistance, community relations activities, and civic events. Police Explorers are volunteers, but are completely insured while in training and on duty.

The Dinosaurs of Santa Monica

On Monday, November 6, 2006, (left to right) David Hartwell, 34, Gabrielle Tieu, 29 and Adam Said, 27 from the Sculpture Conservatory Studio, perform their annual maintenance of cleaning, washing, removing corrosion and applying a wax coating onto the public art work sculptures titled "The Dinosaurs of Santa Monica" 1989 by Claude and Francois LaLanne. The six topiary sculptures are  stainless steel, copper and foliage that run along the Third Street Promenade between Broadway and Wilshire Boulevard.
