Max Castillo paints as John Maldonado lays the roof atop  of the  'Winterlit House', a whimsical gingerbread playhouse at the Third Street Promenade on Wednesday, November 15, 2006. The house is part of the Winterlit Holiday Celebration, "Best Gift Ever"  a community gift drive to collect presents. The gifts will be distributed to the Santa Monica Police Activities League (PAL).

Edgemar Holiday Tree

Artist Anthony Schmitt, 49, climbs atop of the  'Edgemar Holiday Tree' to hang some lights on Wednesday, November 15, 2006. The holiday tree sculpture is 33 feet tall and consists of 83 shopping carts. This is the tenth year that Schmitt has built the sculpture at the Edgemar. No scaffolding was needed to erect the sculpture, it served as its own scaffolding he said.

Suppertime

Marla McClure, 28 (left) and Liz Federico, 27, SMC Musical Theatre Students performs a piece from the upcoming Musical Theatre Workshop,  "Suppertime" from 'As Thousands Cheer' on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 during the  Kiwanis Club  weekly  luncheon at the Santa Monica Family YMCA. (Music Director Frank Turner is seated in the middle) The Musical Theatre Workshop will be this Sunday November 19  at 2 pm in the new SMC Theatre Arts Mainstage.The workshop is directed by Theatre Arts Professor  Dr. Jaine Jones. Tickets are $8.00.

SMC Music Student Melissa Sills, a soprano, performs "Nehmt meinen Dank," K 383 (Thank You, My Friend) during Mozart Minifest '250 Years and Counting' on Tuesday, November 14 2006 at  the SMC Concert Hall. Accompanying  on the piano is Donald Fredrickson. The Minifest is directed by Dr. James Martin.
