1) Cyclists warm-up before beginning the 80-mile AIDS/LifeCycle Training Ride - "Day on the Ride" on Main Street in Santa Monica on Saturday, April 21, 2007. The training is in preparation for the upcoming seven day bike ride that will travel 545 miles through California from San Francisco to Los Angeles and will take place June 3-9, 2007. AIDS/LifeCycle is CO-produced by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and is designed to advance their shared interests to end the pandemic and human suffering caused by AIDS. 2)  Hundreds of cyclists peddle along Via Marina during the 80-mile AIDS/LifeCycle Training Ride - "Day on the Ride" on Saturday.

The Virginia Tech Alumni Association, Los Angeles Chapter 52 holds a candlelight vigil at Santa Monica beach on Friday evening in memory of the 32 students who lost their lives on April 16.

Community artist David Legaspi paints a new mural underneath the Santa Monica the pier on Friday of an Ocean Sunfish AKA Mola Mola  in preparation for Santa Monica Aqaurium / Heal the Bay - Earth Day Weekend. The mural is meant to inspire environmental awareness an create a ray of hope.

Fiction writer Dyland Landis, reads excerpt from her novel 'Floorwork'  during the 'Santa Monica Review : Celebrating 20 Years'  at SMC on Thursday, April 19, 2007. Santa Monica College’s national literary arts journal, published twice yearly, showcases the literary voices of established authors and emerging writers. Founded by SMC English instructor Jim Krusoe (Blood Lake, Iceland), the Review has presented readers experimental, thoughtful, and funny works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, interviews, and essays—including works by well-known authors such as Gary Soto, Lynn Freed and Alan Cheuse—during its nearly 20 years of publication, and has achieved a reputation as one of the West Coast’s leading journals.
