The Workshop
1) Artist Mick Flaum, works on his sketches in his studio at 'The Workshop' at Main Street in Santa Monica on Wednesday. He has had his studio at The Workshop for the past 30 years. The Workshop" is a co-op art studio with about 10 artist and has been on Main Street since 1970. 2) Joanne Licardo works on her painting 'The Awakening of Psyche' in her studio at The Workshop. Licardo has been at The Workshop for 9 years. She also teaches painting class in her studio. 3) Antara, a potter and sculptor, works with clay in her studio on Wednesday. Antara also gives pottery and photography lessons in her studio.

Hop-on-the-bus
MAKE A NEW PLAN: Santa Monica College president Dr. Chui L. Tsang, encourages students to ride the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus to the SMC campus during the EcoFabulous Event on Tuesday, April 24, 2007. Dr. Tsang, said that there are plans in the works to offer free rides on the Big Blue Bus for SMC students. The event featured an environmental fair, speakers, free organic food and prizes and the release of the 2005-06 SMC Environmental Audit. The event was sponsored by the SMC Associated Students, SMC Center for Environmental and Urban Studies, SMC Eco-Action Club and Sustainable Works. Speakers included SMC president Dr. Chui L. Tsang, Santa Monica Mayor Richard Bloom, Santa Monica City Councilman Kevin McKeown and keynote speaker Paul Scott, who talked about the benefits of solar energy.

Gentle giant
Merlin, a five year-old Great Dane relaxes during the EcoFabulous Event at Santa Monica College on Tuesday, April 24. Merlin is a vegetarian and eats a 100 percent vegetarian diet consisting of Evolution food from Petfoodshop.com. The Great Dane is famously nicknamed the gentle giant, and is usually very good with pets and children. The breed is intelligent, loyal, kind, and is not aggressive by nature.




Bikerowave
Alex Thompson, co-founder of Bikerowave and Ryan Mallery, a volunteer, promote their new co-op 'do-it-yourself' bicycle repair shop during the EcoFabulous Event on Tuesday. Bikerowave is a nonprofit organization with an all volunteer staff of local bikers who share their expertise and equipment. The bike repair facility, with use of tools is available for a $5.00 per hour rental charge.
