(1) Carson High School Senior, Jinger Rubio (front right) holds hands with her girlfriend as they skip and dance  while celebrating her 'Cotillion' at Santa Monica beach during her eighteens birthday celebration on Thursday, December 21,2006.  A cotillion is a traditional Filipino coming of age ceremony/ and right of passage for a girl  around her 18th birthday similar to Quinceañera or a 'Sweet Sixteen' party.  A cotillion is a way of ushering a girl into adulthood and presenting her as a young woman to the rest of the community.

SMFD's Share of the Holiday

1) Santa Monica Firefighters  (left to right) Julian Zermeno, Captain Steve Davis and Battalion Chief  Mani Torres pass out gifts during the Santa Monica Firefighters Local #1109's  'Share of the Holiday' festivities on Wednesday at the Thirds Street Promenade. (2) SMFD Captain Steve Davis, who has been with the SMFD for 37 years, hands  a gift to a boy during the festivities. (3) Santa Monica Firefighter Sam Ruiz, 29, hands a gift to Glen Alegre during the event. (4) Seventh-graders Jackson Hudgins, 12, Dina Chang, 13 and Emma Birrell, 13 walk along the Third Street Promenade sporting their new SMFD hats during the  Santa Monica Firefighters Local #1109's  'Share of the Holiday' festivities on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 - The Firefighters gave out 90 wrapped gifts to a select group of children from the neighborhood. About a thousand people came by an picked up an SMFD hats and other goodies during the event. The vintage Firetruck was a big atraction.

Kiwanian Maggie Hall, the Dean of Emeritus College, auctions off a wood Santa Claus sculpted by fellow member Dr. Donald Wagner on Wednesday at the Santa Monica Family YMCA. Santa Claus sold for $250.00 to the highest bidder -  Ron Hallal. Santa Monica Kiwanis club President Ron Davis (left) oversees the auction. The money will go towards charity.

Kristina Gould packages up 8 parcels containing Christmas gifts  that she will be shipping 'Express Mail' to insure  they reach her family in Boston before Christmas on Tuesday Dec 20, 2006 from the Santa Monica Post office on  6th and Arizona.
