Nissan Altima Hybrid

Phil Cady, from Nissan, show off the new 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid  at the Third Street Promenade during the KABC Clean Air Car Showcase on Saturday, June 9, 2007. The new Altima Hybrid gets 42 miles per gallon in the city and 36 MPG on the highway. Unlike gasoline powered cars, hybrids get better gas mileage in the city than on the highway because they manly use batteries in the city and gasoline on the highways.

A group of teenagers battle some heavy winds as they skate south on the beach bike path Wednesday. Wind gusts exceeding 30 mph were reported by accuweather.com, which predicts more of the same for today in Santa Monica.

2006 Distinguished Service Award

1) Kristin Chapin makes a speech after receiving the Santa Monica Junior Chamber of Commerce's 2006 Distinguished Service Award on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at the Santa Monica Family YMCA. Chapin's husband Steven also received the prestigious award in 2000 and makes them the first ever husband wife recipients of the award. 2) Mayor Richard Bloom gives Kristin a proclamation from the City of Santa Monica for receiving the Santa Monica Junior Chamber of Commerce's award.

Don Olson, owner of Venice Bicycle Service, repairs a vintage 1930 bike on Sunday, June 3, 2007. His shop (on the Venice boardwalk) is only 46 Square feet and according to him is, "The smallest bike shop west of the Mississippi."

1) Bill Lewis feeds his Italian Cordovan bees some honey in their 'working hive' at the Third Street Santa Monica Farmers Market on Saturday, June 2, 2007. Cordovan bees are known for the brilliant golden color Their attractive coloration makes the queen location less difficult. 2) The queen bee can be scene in the center of a see-through working hive. A queen be is almost twice the size of the other bees and can lay 2,000 eggs per day.
