THE CHRISTMAS STORY


Nativity Scene - Images by Fabian Lewkowicz

The Santa Monica Nativity Scene is an annual display of the Christmas story which has been staged at Palisades Park since 1953. The interdenominational display stretches along Ocean Avenue from Wilshire Blvd. to Arizona Ave. and includes 14 scenes with life-size figures depicting events surrounding Christ’s birth.

A giant snow globe showcases the new 2011 Mini Cooper Countryman at the Third Street Promenade on Monday, December 13, 2010. The Countryman is the first with four-doors and all-wheel drive Mini Cooper. It will be available next month.

The event marked the opening of the Santa Monica Nativity Scenes, an annual display of the Christmas story in Palisades Park at Ocean and Arizona avenues. The interdenominational display stretches along Ocean Avenue from Arizona Avenue to Santa Monica Boulevard and includes 14 scenes with lifesize figures depicting events surrounding Christ’s birth. The lighted scenes will be on display until the end of the year. For motorists, the lane along Ocean Avenue next to the booths is expected to be reserved for passing vehicles to view the scenes on weekends until Christmas and from Christmas to the end of the year.
