Members from the Lighthouse Church sing Christmas carols  while parading through the Third Street Promenade on Sunday, December 12, 2010.

The event marked the opening of the Santa Monica Nativity Scenes, an annual display of the Christmas story in Palisades Park at Ocean and Arizona avenues. The interdenominational display stretches along Ocean Avenue from Arizona Avenue to Santa Monica Boulevard and includes 14 scenes with lifesize figures depicting events surrounding Christ’s birth. The lighted scenes will be on display until the end of the year. For motorists, the lane along Ocean Avenue next to the booths is expected to be reserved for passing vehicles to view the scenes on weekends until Christmas and from Christmas to the end of the year.
