The Scarring Letter

The Scarring Letter: A 12 year old holds a sign that reads' "I Lie and Steal, Please Pray For Me: That I grow to be a better man than the selfish child I am today." He had to hold this sign as punishment for lying to his mother. His brother, Michael stands near as Santa Monica Police Officer Barbiera investigates. It was his older brother Michaels idea for Taylor to hold this sign at the pier

In my opinion, this punishment is despicable and hopefully the boy did not have to bear this heavy load around his neck for long. It is reminiscent of the locked hands and head as punishment in the public square. I sincerely hope the punishment worked for the boy and not against him. And I don't think I would have had the nerve to shoot the pic as it is a very personal moment.
