The I-10 off ramp was closed at Lincoln and Olympic blvd at 7:30 am on Sunday. A 'Kit Car' - a 57 speedster replica built from a 1973 Volkswagen body with a Porsche engine, while stopped at the intersection, the engine burst in to flames. This engine was located in the rear of the car. The car got torched almost immediately. Firefighter said since the car was fiber glass and had a fake leather interior, all components were extremely flammable causing the fire to spread rapidly. Tons of toxic smoke filled the early morning air. It could be seen from miles away. The driver Avihay Novel from Brentwood, was un injured. He was unsure if the insurance would cover his loss. As the car was burning, officer said to the driver, "Can I call you a taxi?"
