Ernie Van Leeowen 93 (center) has ran in the LA Man for the past 11 years and is in training for next march's LA marathon. Leeowen will lead the 10,000 step walk at the up coming Resolution Festival on New Years Day. Council member Richard Bloom (right) and Santa Jack Walton perform exercises after the press conference on Friday at the Santa Monica Pier.

Resolution Festival is a New Year’s day-long festival at the world-famous Santa Monica Pier created to help individuals and families kick-start their New Year’s resolutions with a Soft Sand 5K, 10,000 Steps Walk, Polar Bear Swim and on-pier Expo. All participants will receive free 30-day memberships at 24 Hour Fitness and a haircut and consultation at a Beverly Hills salon valued at $200. The event will benefit Challenged Athletes Foundation, Johnny G Foundation, Operation USA, Team Parkinson and Tree People.
