Community art: The  Roosevelt Elementary  school PTA, with the help from artist David Legaspi, (known for painting most the community murals in Santa Monica) painted four murals inside of the boys and  girls restrooms over the weekend. It was a project of the school community where the kids, teachers and parents helped paint the murals. Some 70 parents of the school  painted  alongside of Legaspi,  on four simultaneous murals in the four main kids bathroom of the school. "It's a great experience seeing the school community pulling together to create an art project for the school children. It just shows that arts is very much alive in our schools, and this is what I support in all my community art endeavors." commented Legaspi. This 4-bathroom murals were sponsored by the Roosevelt school PTA  for the school beautification project, the goal of which is to inspire the children to help keep their bathrooms beautiful and clean. Legaspi designed the themes for all four murals: Boy BR 1- knights and dragons; Boys BR 2- Pirates and Underwater treasures:;Girls BR 1- Mermaids and marine life; Girls BR 4- Fairies and butterflies, all based on ideas and instructions by the school PTA and administration. Legaspi sketched all the images and simply directed the talented parent painter/volunteers of the school who did most of the job over the weekend.
