Monsignor Lloyd Torgerson bids adieu to ash-stamped parishioners and students at Saint Monica’s Church on Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the season of Lent in the Catholic religion.

At Gold Gym in Venice on Wednesday morning, John Stomponoto, 48, does a set of 12 reps with two hundred  pounds on the chest press machine as his workout partner Manuel Saenzpardo, 43, gives him a spot. Stomponoto and Saenzpardo have been training together for  the past 13 years. They meet at Gold's Gym to workout together five times per week at 8am. Each session take about an hour. They do a three day split training routine. Day one is chest and back, day two is legs and day three they train their shoulders and arms.

Former Media Arts and Animation student from the California Art Institute California -  Los Angeles, Kristi Klein, 29, a professional Model Builder and judge from Legoland California ,  puts some final touches on a model during the Legoland National Search for Model Builders that was held  at the Art Institute of California- Los Angeles.  Klein one this competition two years ago and won a full time job at Legoland.
