Public Beach Club Rally






'Friends of 415' held a beach party rally at Santa Monica City hall to support the one-a-kind public beach club purposed for Santa Monica State Beach at the former Marion Davies Estate. The city council will take a final vote on whether or not to approve the $75 million dollar public beach club project.

Masters of disaster




John Pacheco, executive director of the Santa Monica Red Cross, discusses Tsunami Emergency procedures and role plays many possible scenarios relating to a Tsunami hitting Ocean Park. The Drill was staged at the Santa Monica Red Cross on Wednesday, May 24, 2006. The drill was performed in real time. All phone call were actually made by the staff, board members and volunteers of the Santa Monica Red Cross. They called many local agencies in order to coordinator relief efforts. "This is a facsimile drill...and...can we use your parking lot for 200 beds?" said Pacheco over a telephone line durring the drill.

Clean sweep


A city waste crew sweeps the boardwalk as workers refill the Pico storm drain with sand in preparation for the coming summer months. The work, done last week,was lost after Monday’s rain, which breached the drain’s new seal.
