Viver Brasil

Viver Brasil processes to the ocean with live drumming, lively movement and song during the closing event to GLOW Art Festival at on Sunday, July 20, 2008. The ceremony celebrated life and power of the ocean and honored the beauty of the Afro-Brazilian salty and sweet water spirits, bearing gifts of white and yellow flowers presented to the goddesses, Yemanja and Oxum.

Camera Projecta by reDiscover with Shiva Mandell is featured during the GLOW Art Festival at on Sunday, July 20, 2008. Situated in the building that houses the famous Camera Obscura on Palisades Park, this project invites the public to enter into the artmaking process. Using reclaimed materials obtained through the non-profit organization reDiscover, visitors were be able to engage in visual storytelling through the manipulation.

Glass House

Guest of GLOW Art Festival look inside the Glass House by Artists Kamau Patton and Suzy Poling at Palisade Park on Sunday, July 20, 2008. Glass House created a live musical video projection performance that was presented from inside a greenhouse using tape loops, theremins and improvised sound devices.

A guest of the GLOW Art Festival looks through The Amazing Mental Scope by Infranatural (Jenna Didier, Oliver Hess & Marcos Luytens) at the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday, July 19, 2008. The Amazing Mental Scope  is a portable brain wave monitor (EEG) that is placed on the head of a participant; the readout from the EEG monitor is translated into a visual language and broadcast on an LED display as the participant sends signals for public disclosure.

Solar Koi

Solar Koi (by Dave Quick & Elena Siff) blows in the wind at Palisade Park during GLOW Art Festival on Sunday, July 20, 2008.  Located along the fence in Palisades Park, Solar Koi is composed of seven umbrella-like structures, from which are suspended internally-lit koi pennants.
