After nearly two decades online, Santa Monica Closeup has officially moved to a new home.

Originally launched in 2005, the publication documented life across Santa Monica, Venice Beach, and the surrounding Westside through independent photojournalism, community coverage, breaking news, public events, and street-level storytelling.

From 2005 through 2024, the platform operated on its original blog system. Due to increasing technical issues and the platform no longer being actively supported, Santa Monica Closeup has now transitioned to a new Blogger-based platform to ensure continued stability, accessibility, and future growth.

Readers can now find all new coverage, updates, photo essays, and video reports at the new official website:

The move marks a new chapter for Santa Monica Closeup while continuing the same mission that began 19 years ago — documenting the people, places, public safety activity, civic events, and changing landscape of Santa Monica and Venice Beach through on-scene journalism and visual storytelling.

Thank you to everyone who has followed, supported, commented, shared stories, and contributed to the journey over the years.

Santa Monica Closeup will continue documenting public events of local significance from the streets, beaches, parks, and neighborhoods of the Westside at its new online home.
